MAJ Hosts Annual Membership Dinner

On Wednesday, April 24, the Maryland Association for Justice, Inc. and its membership gathered for one of its most important events of the year, the Annual Membership Dinner. Each year, this meeting is held to review the year's actives and discuss and vote on essential association business.

The evening's special guest was Maryland State Senator Brian E. Frosh who, along with MAJ Legislative Committee chair Robert J. Zarbin, gave members insight into the 2013 Legislative Session in Annapolis.

As part of each year's activities, awards are given for MAJ committee and section of the year, which were presented by MAJ President George S. Tolley, III.

The 2013 Committee of the Year Award went to MAJ's landmark Mentoring Committee for its extensive work in creating educational programming for the association's new lawyers. Such activities included breakfasts covering essential trial information and opportunities for mock depositions. Receiving the award on the committee's behalf was Mentoring Committee chair James K. MacAlister.

The 2013 Section of the Year Award went to the MAJ active Auto Negligence Section for their exemplary work on their annual Auto Negligence Seminar, one of the most popular and widely acclaimed MAJ educational program. This year's award was accepted by Auto Negligence Section co-chairs Amy M. Orsi and Eric N. Schloss.

As part of official association business, the new officers and governors were voted into office. (View the 2013-2014 MAJ Board of Governors here). In addition, the association adopted bylaws (Read the full text here).

The formal installation of the board of governors will take place at the 60th Annual President's Dinner on May 4th, honoring outgoing President George S. Tolley, III and incoming President Lawrence S. Greenberg.
