According to an article from NBC News, "'These Housing Authority employees routinely harass and abuse the vulnerable women in public housing,' the lawsuit stated. 'By refusing to perform repairs without sexual quid pro quo, these defendants are subjecting the tenants to life-threatening living conditions.'"
Cary J. Hansel, of Hansel Law, PC and co-counsel Annie B. Hirsch, of Hirsch & Cosca, PC represented these victims in a class-action lawsuit. Their hard work has paid off last week in the sum of an $8 Million settlement to be shared by the victims.
Baltimore Sun explains that officials are calling this the largest settlement in a sexual harassment case in the history of the Fair Housing Act.
Not only have these MAJ members done magnificently well for their clients but they have brought light to a significant issue facing hundreds of women in our neighborhoods. Congrats to Cary and Annie!
